The Evolution and Development of the Black Gulaman

Finally it’s done and over with. Well, after some tense weeks of preparation, well at least I was able to talk and negotiate with the Chin Chin representative owners above current problems such as the pricing of the Chin Chin Black Gulaman and Power Bits Sports Drink Flavors. Apparently, there is a problem putting them in the stores as of late, mostly because the prices were being scrutinized. Nevertheless, I have no choice but to make do with what is already there, and modesty aside, “
beggars cannot be choosers”.

The class to which we are catering to is simply different. The Philippines is considered to be a poor country, but regardless, we see people driving in luxury cars, being able to carry around the latest released cellular phones, buying properties for future investments, and even surviving the outrageous tuition fees for their children just to get a decent education. I agree that the country is in a crisis, and to sum it all up, I can only think of one thing, it all boils down to the prioritized needs of every person. No thanks to Universal Robina Corporation’s C2, green tea will never be appreciated as to what it was really meant to be. Filipinos consider C2 as a health drink, but blabbering all over again, might as well just call it flavored iced tea because I assure you, we have already brought this product to the scientific levels of study and sad to say folks, there is no trace of whatsoever of green tea herbal elements in them. But then again, we don’t care as long as it is affordable right? It is all in the mind that we think it is healthy.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they are studying how to imitate our Chin Chin Black Gulaman, or Grass Jelly as it is more commonly called in the other countries. The Chin Chin Black Gulaman is a honey induced drink which contains real black gulaman tidbits inside. Priced in the area of Php 25.00 to Php 35.00, depending on where you buy it, it is hard to categorize in the market. It cannot be categorized as a drink since it has jelly inside, and neither can it be considered a desert, because it can be drank as a temporary substitute for people who don’t have the luxury of time. The Black Gulaman craze was developed for the purpose of providing consumers an alternative way of appreciating and enjoying the drink without having to go to restaurants who serve it, most of which are rare as well.

It will only be a matter of time before a product is placed in the market to compete against us. I am expecting it this year. But sad to say, we are way ahead of you. How and in what way? Now ask the right question and maybe you will know. Besides, that is the work of the Research and Development team right? So get your true worth and figure out what we are planning to develop next! Let see your imagination put to work, that is if you have one.
