Chocolate seems to be theme when it comes to developing new phones. Chocolate bars like the new LG BL20 Chocolate is the new addition to its older brother the BL40.

The LG BL20 may not have the splendor of the BL40 but is definitely an-awe inspiring device to be reckoned with. The chocolate series is back and here is the ingredient that keeps the chocolate sweeter than it is.

The latest BL20 Chocolate comes with a spectacular lively screen and a touchpad for easy navigation. To add to the functionality it has a sliding keypad that steers away from both traditional designs. Definitely the LG BL20 is a fashion phone and here are some of its core features.

First of all the LG BL20 by far is the slimmest of all LG slider phones available in the market. It only measures 106.9 x 50.8 x 12.3 mm, and the handset can still fit in your pocket. It only weighs at 115g just above the average phone you would encounter.

It has a 2.4 inch screen big enough for you to glide your hands through. Screen resolution is by far the best feature of this phone supporting 240 x 320 pixels at 262K colors. Just behind the back lies the LG BL20 Chocolate’s 5 megapixel auto-focus camera fully equipped with Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics. In addition to that, it also has an LED flash which can be used as a source of video light.

The LG BL20 also has some useful applications, this include an organizer, a calendar, a To-Do app, memos, Alarm settings, calculator and stopwatch just to name a few.

The new Chocolate series by LG is a great all rounder phone featuring all the best bits mold up into one. Not only it is powerful enough but it is also great to suite as a fashion statement.

GW620: LG's First Android

It seems that the Android OS is slowly taking over the mobile phone industry. There's the recently released Motorola Cliq, and the HTC Tattoo just to name a few that's got Android circuitry running through its boards. Now LG's getting in on the action by announcing the GW620. Their target market aren't the tech and gadget savvy crowd but rather the newbies.

“The LG-GW620 will appeal to first-time smartphone customers by offering a new and different kind of user experience,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Our objective is to provide a wide selection of smartphones to satisfy the diverse preferences of today’s consumers. This Android phone is just one of many smartphone models we plan to introduce worldwide in the years ahead.”

Besides a 3 inch full touchscreen and QWERTY slider pad, what else does it got to prove itself worthy of being called a smartphone for the first-time users?

In anticipation of strong demand for smartphones that support social networking functions right out-of-the-box, the LG-GW620 also lives up to LG’s consumer-friendly design philosophy by making the smartphone experience more accessible for typical users. At the same time, LG’s messaging phones have traditionally been very popular with young professionals who demand a full QWERTY keypad for a fast mobile computing experience. If you remember we mentioned that the Samsung S9110 watchphone may go to the stores earlier than the LG GD910 watchphone, well, looks like they LG's pushing the fast-forward button on this one: they've released a video of it in action!

Of course, the question we really want answered is how much the GD910 will cost when it launches. Early tips have consistently hovered around the £1,000 ($1,623) mark on an unsubsidized pre-pay contract, which instantly puts the GD910 out of reach of most would-be buyers. We’ve also heard talk that LG have limited supplies of the watch phone, lending it even more exclusivity.

Expensive yes, but imagine that you'll be one of the few people to have this first! We'll be waiting for the reviews to come in next month or so.

Verizon going up against Apple App Store?

having exclusive rights to the iPhone and Verizon about to get a Palm Pre soon, they're also gearing up to go head to head against Apple's App Store.

Verizon Wireless is jumping on the application store bandwagon and taking on Apple and its App Store with its own Vcast application store, which it announced at its first ever developer conference in San Jose, Calif., Tuesday.
The new Vcast application store will launch in the fourth quarter of 2009. Lowell McAdam, CEO of Verizon Wireless, said it will offer application developers a quick and simple way to distribute and monetize their applications while providing wireless subscribers with an easier way to discover and buy new applications for their smartphones.

Although Verizon's been known to being too tight-fisted on their own apps, the company seems to have seen the light and will be open to third party developers.

"It's a new day (in wireless)," McAdam said in the opening address of the developer conference which was also Webcast. "And our future success is no longer in the walled-garden. Our success is tied to you (developers)."

It truly is a new day, and we're glad Verizon's going in the right direction.
